Literacy
Every day students participate in literacy instruction during Reading Workshop, Writing Workshop, and Skills Block.

Reader's Workshop consists of a whole class mini-lesson during which students participate in strategy and skill instruction.  During the work period, students are reading independently, writing reading responses, participating in partner reading, participating in book clubs and more.  During the work period, the teacher is meeting with individual students in reading conferences and with small guided reading groups.  At the end of Reading Workshop, students participate in a purposeful share, usually related to the focused topic of the minilesson.
