Standards Based Instruction
Kindergarten through 12th Grade Minnesota Academic Standards are now in place for the following subjects: Language Arts - Reading and Writing; Mathematics; Science and Social Studies; and
The Arts.

 Monthly Reading Strategies  
 Standards in Language Arts   The Language Arts Standards include these sections: Reading and Literature; Writing: and Speaking, Listening and Viewing. Reading Standards for the state are included in the Language Arts Standards.
 Standards in Mathematics   The Standards in Mathematics define a common foundation of mathematics to be learned by all students. The standards cover concepts in the following strands: Number Sense, Computation, and Operations; Patterns, Functions, and Algebra; Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability; and Spatial Sense, Geometry, and Measurement.
 Standards in Science   The Minnesota Academic Standards for Science must be fully implemented for all students beginning this year, 2006-2006. Science standards exist in the following four areas: istory and Nature of Science; Earth and Space Science; Physical Science; and Life Science.
 Standards in Social Studies   The Minnesota Academic Standards in History and Social Studies for grades K-12 define a common foundation of knowledge and skills in United States history, World history, Minnesota history, Geography, Economics, Government and Citizenship.
 Standards in Health and Physical Education   The Health and Physical Education Quality Teaching Network (HPE QTN) has developed a set of sample standards and benchmarks as a resource to assist school districts in their efforts to develop local health and physical education standards. The HPE QTN group used the National Health Education and Physical Education Standards as the core standards.
